Bill, Andrea, Michael and Jacob Altenhof
​​Bill is a life-long resident of St. Clair Beach.  His parents, Jack and Helen Altenhof built their family home in 1967 on Edgewater Blvd in St. Clair Beach.  Along with his sister Laura and brother Dan, Bill attended St. Gregory Elementary School and St. Anne High School.  Throughout his formative years Bill played Tecumseh T-ball and Travel Baseball as well as football for St. Anne High School.  Bill graduated as a Canada Scholar from St. Anne High School and was selected by his peers to be the class valedictorian. While studying at St. Anne's, Bill worked at Lakewood as a bus boy and then worked part-time at Zehrs St. Clair Beach in the meat department.

Bill entered the Engineering Program at the University of Windsor and completed his undergraduate degree in 1995 receiving the Governor General Medal in Mechanical Engineering for highest academic achievement.  He continued his studies earning both a Masters of Applied Science and a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Windsor.  During his graduate studies he worked at Ford Motor Company and with KS Centoco conducting cutting edge research on automotive steering wheel design and engineering. In 1999, Bill started working as an Assistant Professor at the University of Windsor and quickly gained tenure and the rank of full professor in the Department of Mechanical, Automotive & Materials Engineering. 


He has been an active member of St. Gregory Parish (Good Shepherd) all his life, serving as altar server, lector, member of the finance committee and currently is the chair of the building committee.  He is married to Andrea and is the father of 14 year old identical twin boys Michael and Jacob.  Bill and his family reside across the street from the home he grew up in, at 266 Edgewater.


Bill is an active Tecumseh resident.  He has completed triathlons, half-marathons and many local races, including the annual Tecumseh Terry Fox Walk/Run. Bill is often seen throughout the village running, biking and playing soccer with his family and friends at Green Acres Optimist Park .  He is a past member of the Windsor Aquatic Club (2014-2016), swimming in the Masters Division.  He has coached T-ball for Tecumseh Baseball and soccer at McAuliffe Park.
