SAVE THE DATE - SATURDAY MAY 20, 2017 - LAKEWOOD PARK SOUTH

The first annual Michael C. Rohrer Heart and Soul Memory Walk will be held within St. Clair Beach, Tecumseh, the community that Michael grew up in, returned to raise his family in and became Councillor of in 2014.  Tragically, Michael passed away last May after suffering a heart attack, leaving his family, friends and community heart-broken.
The memorial walk will be raising money to establish a Michael Rohrer Scholarship and to raise funds to establish an east end Cardiac Care Centre.
More details and information about registration, volunteering and t-shirt sales will be available soon.

Ward Boundary Review

4/13/2017

The Town of Tecumseh initiated a Ward Boundary Review process last year.  The review process was guided by five main principles:
  • Representation by Population: wards should have relatively equal population totals. However, a degree of variation is acceptable given differences in geography and  population densities as well as the town’s characteristics;
  • Population and Electoral Trends: consider anticipated population increases/decreases so that ward sizes will be balanced for up to three terms of Council;
  • Means of Communication and Accessibility: group existing neighbourhoods into wards that reflect current transportation and communication patterns;
  • Geographic and Topographical Features: use geographical and topographical features to delineate ward boundaries while keeping wards compact and easy to understand; and,
  • Community or Diversity of Interests: as far as possible, ward boundaries should be drawn around recognized settlement areas, traditional neighbourhoods (Village of St. Clair Beach, Rural Community) and community groupings – not through them
The process of adjusting Ward Boundaries is not one-dimensional, but rather a multi-variable problem.  That is, the process and final Ward Boundaries must fall in line with all five principles, not just equal representation.
Please know that as Ward 2 Councillor, I have invested many hours into trying to ensure that Ward 2 and the entire population of Tecumseh will be content with the final boundary adjustment.
